I have been a Police Officer for almost 20 years and have been training with Instructor Belfield for the past 13 years. When I first started training Jiu-Jitsu, I was looking for top level instruction in a safe environment. I found all of that in Fort Lauderdale Jiu-Jitsu. What I didn’t expect was to become a part of a family, a journey, and a way of life. I instantly knew that I had chosen the right place and have since involved my wife and children. Jiu-Jitsu taught at Fort Lauderdale Jiu-Jitsu is technical, practical, philosophical, and fun. This is pure Helio Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Self-defense, grappling, throwing, and striking techniques are just some of the skills you will learn here. These skills can be learned by everyone of all ages and fitness levels. You will learn these skills through repetition and eventually with resistance. That’s when things really become fun, but ONLY when YOU are ready... Remember, this is a safe place! Finally, I can attest to the effectiveness of Jiu-Jitsu. As a Police Officer, Jiu-Jitsu has helped me through countless encounters. These encounters were not always physical. Having Jiu-Jitsu in your toolbelt helps you think rationally, deescalate, and control with minimal physical force. You will have the confidence to protect yourself. What are you waiting for? Start today! Sincerely, Justin Moody

I am a 31 year-old attorney and I have been training with Fort Lauderdale Jiu Jitsu since January 2021. I cannot overstate how much I have learned in less than two years of training, usually just twice a week. My primary interest was learning self-defense, but I also found a welcoming community of people from all backgrounds and all walks of life. Through Jiu Jitsu, I have developed critical self-defense skills, flexibility, and strength - and I have made many friends from the gym. It takes courage to walk through that door the first time, but I promise that you will always thank yourself that you did. Bruce will make you feel right at home, whether you have zero experience (like I did) or are a black belt already. I plan on training Jiu Jitsu forever.

Both my Boys are members of this martial arts group , they absolutely love it here and have been involved for over 1 year. It has helped develop their minds, physical ability, and given them self control and discipline. The instructors are fantastic and I absolutely recommend it to all parents looking for a great activity that will teach life lessons.

Hi, my name is Ali Rashid, and it's my pleasure to talk to you about my martial arts academy, Fort Lauderdale Jiu-jitsu. I've been training under Bruce Belfield the head instructor of Fort Lauderdale Jiu-Jitsu now for five years, and I love it. It's definitely one of the best parts of my life. At Fort Lauderdale Jiu-Jitsu we recognize that people come and train at a martial arts Academy because they want to learn how to defend themselves. Self-defense is the number one priority. You're very quickly going to learn how to defend yourself against whatever's out there. Somebody comes at you with a weapon. Somebody tries to grab you. Someone tries to hurt you while standing up. Someone tries to throw you on the ground. Someone tries to beat you up on the ground. You're going to have the knowledge and the skills that's going to give you confidence. You're not going to be afraid of someone being bigger than you. Aggressive. Whatever's out there. The emphasis is on the student. The emphasis in the on learning experience. Everybody's learning. Everybody's improving. The best thing for sure that I can say about Fort Lauderdale Jiu-Jjitsu is the same thing that I tell anyone who's interested in the martial arts academy. You have to come and see it for yourself. You're going to find a beautiful, clean, respectful environment, a place you'd be okay to show up to at any time to bring even your children to. You're going to be learning very, very quickly, not hurting yourself and gaining that confidence through the knowledge, through the skills that you're developing more than anything. I hope to see you on the mat if you're interested in martial arts in the Fort Lauderdale area. Thank you for your time.

I’m 66 years young and I started training in March of 2011. I had done some high school and college wresting and participated in different forms of exercise my entire life. But I was searching for something that was more inclusive of mind, body and spirit. Fort Lauderdale Jiu-Jitsu was this for me. Upon meeting owner and instructor Bruce Belfield, Bruce asked me “What was I looking for?” Bruce’s explanation to my questions eased my nervousness about starting the quest I was to begin. With Fort Lauderdale Jiu-Jitsu’s comprehensive self-defense class program, I embraced the techniques, other practitioners, and lifestyle that was changing me from the inside out. The confidence you receive from learning to protect yourself is inner calm that encompasses you. Bruce is a great teacher and an example of the results of training. His students have become examples too, of his teaching. I can witness this in their performance. I plan on continuing my journey at Fort Lauderdale Jiu-Jitsu, because of the goals and visions I have set for myself. Come and enjoy with us, for yourself!

My 7 year old son is a team member at this school. I have to say from my heart that this is the best of the best school I have ever seen , The instructors are with out any questions absolutely incredible ! I go to every class with my son and watch him closely, in a few months of training I see a huge positive change in his all around life style ! Respect, self confidence, getting A-s with his school work, helping around the house , eating good food, caring about himself, trying to get better at everything he does , treating all people how he wants to be treated, protecting his friends from bullying I can go on and on . I would highly recommend this amazing school to young children or anyone that wants to train in an amazing environment , I would like to say thank you very much to the staff for bringing out the best in my 7 year old son Luca !!! Hi, my name is Malia and I have been with the Fort Lauderdale Jiu-Jitsu school for 11 years. I joined when I was eight. And since then I have continuously applied both the physical and mental strategies taught to me by head instructor and owner Mr. Belfield. The lessons taught to me by Fort Lauderdale Jiu-Jitsu have been invaluable throughout the years. And I know without a doubt that Fort Lauderdale Jiu-Jitsu has had a profoundly positive impact on me today and who I will be in the future.

My family and I train here and have been coming since 2015. We look forward to class and our training partners. There is an atmosphere of kindness and comradery. Bruce's instruction is the very best, he's always refining every detail! Emphasizing on self-defense, the school has a wide range of age groups and from old to young and all excel in skill and technique! It's very clean and their schedule and curriculum are consistent. A true gem in Ft. Lauderdale. Whatever your personal jiu-jitsu goals are, you'll learn and thrive here. Fun for the whole family!!

Hello. My name is John Doody and I am the owner and operator of Celtic Athletic. And today I'd like to talk a little bit, about my experience of learning jujitsu at Fort Lauderdale Jiu-Jitsu under the instruction of Bruce Belfield. So when I moved to Florida, my plan had been to go around the area and try the different schools and see where it was the best fit for me. Now, throughout my years of experience as a strength conditioning coach, I have had the good fortune to work with some truly world class coaches. And it's given me an understanding of what it takes to be an elite level coach. So when I walked into Fort Lauderdale Jiu-Jitsu and met Bruce to try out the school, I knew there was no point in looking any farther. Bruce, this is truly an exceptional coach. He's able to take the most complex of concepts, the most complex of movements and break them down into simple terms. It's really going to accelerate your learning as a student of Jiu-Jitsu. Not only that, but Bruce understands the applications of Jiu-Jitsu. He's worked in law enforcement and he's even worked as a SWAT officer. He understands what will and what will not work when your life is on the line. That is the sort of person you need to be learning Jiu-Jitsu from. Not only that, but Bruce is truly one of the nicest people you will ever meet in your life. He has dedicated numerous hours after class to answering my questions. I was running through areas that I was a little weak on. That is a hallmark of a coach that cares. And that is the sort of coach you need to be working with. Get down to Fort Lauderdale Jiu-Jitsu. Try out a class and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.
